We started Virginia and Paige on solid foods in early December and they have taken to it pretty well. We've managed to get Paige to stop storing the food in her cheeks and then spitting it out when we aren't looking. They definitely weren't sure to do with the food the first time we fed them, but Virginia has it all figured out. Paige still isn't so sure it is worth all the trouble, but when Virginia is twice her size and making Paige hit herself, Paige will probably realize she should eat all the food she can--especially if it means taking food out of Virginia's mouth.
The verdicts so far:
Rice cereal: not wonderful. (FYI, this is not Rice Krispies, which I was not aware of until very recently. What a disappointment.)
Rice cereal mixed with something more appetizing: they never see it coming
Sweet potatoes: pretty good
Carrots: no thank you
Bananas: better than crack
Apple Sauce: good, but no bananas
Peas: can we have more bananas?
Green beans: these will do until you find more bananas
