Our Busy Weekend

We had a busy, exciting weekend! It started Friday with the news that Auntie Mollie had had her baby! Little Teresa "Tessie" Rose was born Friday morning. It didn't take long for Paige and Virginia to learn how to say her name, or at least "Baby Tessie." We made this video Friday night so that Mollie and Steve could hear them.

Saturday was a beautiful day so we went to the playground in the morning. The girls had a great time running around, climbing things, going down slides and swinging. After the playground we went out to lunch and then we home for naps.

Saturday afternoon we had a little visitor. Ben had offered to watch a coworker's son while she and her husband went to a movie, so Saturday afternoon Ian came over to play. The girls weren't quite sure about him at first, but they warmed up to him and let him play with their toys. Well, they let him pick up their toys and try to play with them before they went and took them away. He was really good, and is welcome to come back and play anytime.

Sunday was another exciting day, but I don't have pictures for you. Sunday morning was Paige and Virginia's first swimming lesson! They did great! Virginia was all smiles from the time she and Ben got into the pool until they got out. Paige wasn't so sure at first and was clinging to me, but after a few minutes she warmed up to it and had a good time. The teacher even chose Paige to help demonstrate something and Paige did great. She was all smiles with the teacher and was kicking her feet just like the teacher wanted. I think they really enjoyed it. They talked the entire way home. We couldn't understand most of it, but they sounded excited. I'm just sad that I don't get to go to next week's lesson. I'll be off running my half marathon.

Sunday afternoon Mimi and Pops came over to bring us their old deck table. They got a new one and ours broke awhile back, so they gave us their old one. It's nice to have a table out there again. Now we can eat outside sometimes. Then shortly after Mimi and Pops left Grandma Cindy and Dude came by to visit. They were heading to a concert so they stopped by to see us. The girls were very excited to see all of their grandparents, but they were sad when everyone left. Poor Virginia just cried and cried when Grandma Cindy and Dude left. I ended up having to sit beside her at dinner and hold her hand to get her to calm down. Once she realized Mommy and Daddy weren't leaving she did better.

It was a busy weekend, but it was one that we all enjoyed. It's so nice to have cooler weather now so we can actually go to playgrounds and not be unbearably hot. Now if I could just get rid of this cold we'd be in good shape.
