On Saturday morning the four of us went into DC with Dee and Dude to walk in the National Race for the Cure. We rode the Metro in and it was Paige and Virginia's first time on the "train." Paige wasn't real sure at first, especially after the turnstile closed right in her face on the way into the station. That upset her and she cried, but I got her settled down and she sat on the train next to me.
Virginia didn't mind the train, especially since she got to ride on Dee's lap.
We had a great time at the walk. We walked as part of a team called "Laura's Earring Warriors." The team leader was a woman (Laura) that I went to high school with and we played lacrosse together. Last spring she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and went through chemo and is now cancer free! She even ran the race on Saturday- in 35 minutes, no less! She really is an amazing woman.
Paige had another big first on Saturday- she used a port-a-potty for the first time! It took us going into 3 port-a-potties, but we found one that was clean enough for her to use. She did great. Virginia, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with it.
On the way home on the Metro both girls started out sitting next to me. They were pretty worn out.
Eventually, though, Paige moved back to sit on Dee's lap.
And then on the way to the car Paige got to ride on Dee's shoulders!
Sunday morning was Paige and Virginia's last dance class. As much as this class drove Ben and I crazy the girls seemed to enjoy it. They even participated sometimes. :)
To get Paige to sit in the circle at the beginning of class I had to sit there, too. That trick didn't work on Virginia. But at least Paige was participating here.
And once again Paige was doing what she was supposed to be doing, sort of, while Virginia ran around.
Paige participating still, for the time being at least.
And now Virginia decided to participate- to run across the room.
Virginia and Paige almost doing what they were supposed to be doing.
And then things went haywire for a bit. But near the end of class they wanted to play their "sleep dance" game. It's like freeze dance, but when the music stops they all lay in the circle and pretend to sleep. They only lasted in this game until they started stealing the cones and then we had to pull them away from the game. As much as they enjoyed dance class it will be awhile before we sign them up for another one.
