Christmas 2011

Christmas was a very exciting day at our house this year.  It's the first year that Virginia and Paige really got the whole idea of Santa Claus and getting gifts for Christmas.  They both asked Santa (via e-mail) for "a baby with a paci and a bottle of milk" and sure enough Santa brought them babies!  Not only did the babies have pacis and bottles of milk, but they also had a bunch of other stuff, like blocks, rubber duckies, and all kinds of other things.  Paige and Virginia loved them and were so excited that Santa brought them exactly what they wanted!

After we saw our gifts from Santa, and Mommy and Daddy showered, Mimi, Pops, Uncle Lloyd, Dee, Dude, Great-Grandma D and Rufus came over.  We had breakfast and then it was time to start sorting gifts for opening.  Paige and Virginia were very helpful with handing out the gifts.  I had to tell them who to give some of the gifts to, but for some of them I made them look at the tags and figure it out.  They actually did quite well with that.  Next year they might not need much help at all.

Paige and Virginia LOVED opening the gifts.  They were so excited to tear into their gifts.  We had to fight to get them to stop opening gifts so that other people could have turns opening gifts.  Paige and Virginia were happy to help everyone open their gifts.  I think there were very few gifts opened on Christmas that Paige and Virginia did not help open.

Paige helped Uncle Lloyd open his VT magnet.  She wasn't happy about it, though.
Uncle Lloyd got Paige and Virginia their favorite gifts of the day: their stuffed Curious George dolls!  Over the past month or so Paige and Virginia have fallen in love with Curious George and Dora.  Our little girls who used to never want to watch tv have become addicted to watching Curious George and Dora the Explorer.  Uncle Lloyd knew about their newfound affection for George when he went shopping and he got Paige and Virginia some great gifts, including a book with 8 Curious George stories, 2 Curious George movies, and their stuffed dolls.  They like all of those gifts, but their Curious George dolls are their favorite.

This was the year of the dollhouse in our house.  Dee had the idea to get Paige and Virginia dollhouses for Christmas so they each got one from her, and then a couple of weeks before Christmas a package came in the mail from Paige and Virginia's Great-great Uncle Charles (he's Pops' uncle) and it had dollhouses for both of them as well.  On Christmas Day Paige and Virginia got 4 dollhouses- we currently have our own little dollhouse subdivision in the basement.

For their big Christmas gift Mommy and Daddy got Paige and Virginia a play kitchen.  On Christmas Eve after Paige and Virginia had gone to bed we put the kitchen together.  It's amazing that we didn't wake them up with all of the banging we did putting it together.  We saved it for their last gift on Christmas.  They love it!

It's a "Market Kitchen" so while Paige is cooking Virginia can be working the cash register
There was another big gift that Paige and Virginia learned about on Christmas Day, but didn't get to enjoy it until the next day.  Mimi and Pops got them an outdoor playhouse!  It sat in our garage for weeks and Paige and Virginia never questioned the big box.  They were really excited, though, when Mimi and Pops came to put it together.  Now we just need some nice weather so they can get out and play with it.

This was the best Christmas ever for us!  It was so much fun for us to watch Paige and Virginia enjoy so many things about this Christmas.  I hope next year is as much fun- I think it will be.  And I hope you all had as wonderful a Christmas as we did.
