ICE! Shrek The Halls

On the first Saturday in January we went to National Harbor, MD with Dee, Dude, Mimi and Pops for Breakfast with Shrek and ICE! Shrek the Halls.  It was a great idea that Dee had and I'm so glad we went because we all enjoyed it.

We started with a buffet breakfast where we were visited by some of the characters from Shrek.  We got to meet Puss in Boots (but the girls wouldn't go near him), Shrek and Princess Fiona.  Paige was so excited to see Princess Fiona.  I think she even gave her a hug.  The food at breakfast was really good, too.

After breakfast we had some time to kill so we wandered around the Gaylord National Resort.  It's a really nice resort.  We actually learned the next day that the Gaylord is where the Redskins stay the night before their home games.  If we'd been there longer we might have seen some of them since they were playing their home playoff game the day after we were hanging out with Shrek.

Then it was time to head over to ICE!  We waited outside for our turn to go in and we thought it was cold outside.  Once we got inside we saw a little video about the creation of ICE! and then we got in line to get outfitted to go through it.  We got our picture taken when we were all ready to head into the ICE! exhibit.  Here we all are- dressed in our awsome blue coats (that helped, but certainly didn't keep you warm!)- Pops, Mimi, Ben, Tobi, Dee, Dude, and Paige and Virginia in the front.

And the last room of ICE! was a nativity.  Paige and Virginia loved getting to see the baby Jesus.

After we got out of ICE!  we wandered around National Harbor a bit before getting some lunch and heading for home.  We went down to the water's edge where Paige and Virginia had fun climbing on The Awakening statue.  They especially loved climbing on his face.

We had a great day at National Harbor.  Maybe next time we go down there we'll check out the new children's museum.  Thank you, Dee and Dude, for the day!  And thank you, Mimi and Pops, for lunch and for coming along!  We had a great time!
