A couple of weeks ago we spent a week at the beach with Mimi, Pops and Uncle Lloyd. The weekend before we left for the beach we got a contract on our house, so it was really nice to not have that to worry about while we were hanging out at the beach.
We all had a great time! Paige and Virginia couldn't get enough of the sand, ocean or the pool. They didn't hesitate to get sand all over them. Most days we spent the morning on the beach playing in the sand and at the water's edge, went in for lunch and then went to the pool after lunch. After the pool it was time for baths and naps before getting up and getting ready for dinner. The girls were up late every night, but that was okay. They slept in twin beds and did great! I don't think anyone fell out of bed the whole week, so that was good.
On Wednesday Ben, Lloyd and I played a round of golf and the girls went to the aquarium with Mimi and Pops. We had a lot of fun playing golf and actually played a halfway decent round. I even shot par on a Par 4! It was a nice course that we played and Ben and I got to learn how different a beach course is from a mountain course like we occasionally play up in West Virginia.
Other than that we spent the week at the beach and the pool. It was nice and relaxing and we had a wonderful time. We already can't wait to go back next year!

Paige and Virginia didn't waste any time getting covered in sand- they sat right down in it to play.
Virginia checking things out.
Virginia loved the pool, and her new Puddle Jumpers.
Paige loved swimming in her new Puddle Jumpers.
We were at the beach for Father's Day, so Sunday night Ben and Pops opened their Father's Day cards, with the help of Virginia and Paige, of course.
Virginia helping Pops read his card.
Virginia hanging out in her elephant chair. These were great for making choo choo trains in the living room.
Uncle Lloyd brought his bean bag toss game with him so one day we took it out on the sand and played with it. Virginia and Paige couldn't wait to get to throw things at that Hokie bird.
Paige and Virginia playing with their beach toys.
Virginia laying out on the (covered) deck on her new Dora towel. Ben and I surprised the girls with these towels and they LOVE them!
Brothers on the golf course. This is when we were waiting to tee off on hole number 16, where I shot par.

Family picture time! Virginia was not in the mood to get her picture taken, but that's okay. Paige, Ben, Virginia and me.
Uncle Lloyd with his two favorite nieces!
Mimi and Pops with their grandgirls.

Jumping in the pool! Paige had just jumped in and Virginia was just about to jump. They had so much fun jumping in the pool and even going under water when they did it.
Swimming! By the end of the week Virginia and Paige had mastered the art of swimming with their Puddle Jumpers. They could swim from one end of the pool to the other by themselves.
Saturday night we had a small birthday celebration- really just cupcakes and singing. Paige and Virginia would have nothing to do with blowing out their candles, so Ben and I helped them out with that. They weren't quite sure about why we were giving them cupcakes that were on fire either.
Saturday night we also got to watch some fishermen bring in their fishing net. We all went up on the top deck and watched them. Virginia sat on Mimi's lap to watch.
It was a great week at the beach! Can't wait to do it again next year!
