Ohio

The first weekend in October we made a quick weekend trip to Ohio for Grandma Betty's 80th birthday party.  We left on Friday when Paige and Virginia got out of school and headed to Ohio.  We got to Aunt Grit's house around 11pm and unpacked the car and went to bed.

Saturday morning we got up and had a big family breakfast at Aunt Grit and Dave's house.  Matt, Ashley, Aubrey, Chelsea, Will, Aunt Judy and Dee and Dude all came over for breakfast.  It was a delicious breakfast and the company was fantastic.  We always have fun when we get to hang out with Aunt Grit and her family.  When everyone left after breakfast it was time for us to get ready for Grandma's party.

We headed over to the VFW club for the party and drove through rain, sleet and snow on the 20 minute drive there.  Ohio weather in October is crazy!  We had a good time at the party getting to hang out with Dee's side of the family and getting to see family members that we rarely get to see.  Aunt Bonnie was trying to get pictures of Grandma with each of the generations that were there, but she got a little confused.  It's not hard to get confused since we have people from different generations that are close in age.

After the party we went back to Aunt Grit and Dave's house to change clothes and bundle up before going to the Loudonville Street Fair.  The girls and I went to this fair a couple of years ago and they had so much fun with Aubrey that they'd been asking when we could go again.  It just happened to work out that Grandma's party was the same weekend as the fair so we got to go again.  We were not prepared for the weather, though.  We all took jackets with us, but we needed our winter coats and gloves.  We managed, though, and had a good time even though we were cold.

They rode this roller coaster 5 or 6 times in a row.

After the fair we headed back to Aunt Grit and Dave's house where the girls and Grit had a slumber party in the living room.  We got up early Sunday morning and headed home.  We got home that afternoon after being gone for a total of 49 hours.  It was exhausting, but it was fun and worth it.  I'm so glad that we were able to go up for the party and the fair.
