20 months old

We're not exactly sure how it happened, but all of the sudden the girls are 20 months old. It must have been just days ago that they were learning to crawl--or was it learning to climb? However and whenever it happened, it did in fact happen. Our sweet little girls are just a little older, but still just as sweet. Days are more adventurous (the ability to run and climb will do that to you), sometimes naps are a little shorter (nasal congestion can lead to that), and TV is a lot more interesting at 20 months (seeing a ball on the TV and being able to say "ball" makes a mostly passive activity a little more interactive). We have many friends these days that have newborns, are expecting, or beginning to talk about trying to be expecting, and we are lucky to be able to look back on 20 months of amazing days--and some long nights--remembering the good parts, and selectively forgetting most of the hard parts, and think of how lucky all of our friends are who are going to have these same experiences. Years from now we'll probably look back on these last 20 months and think about how fast they went by and how much time has passed since these days, but right now it is nice to just think about what wonders we have seen since that late afternoon in June in 2008.

Paige and Virginia getting their 20 month portrait in the chair. Paige was more interested in whatever Olympic event was on the TV at the time. Will we ever be able to get rid of this chair, or will it remain in the family for birthday portraits to come?

Eating lunch is tiring--especially for Virginia.

Perhaps I spoke too soon. Paige is down for the count.

The best part about being 20 months old? You're allowed to fall asleep at lunch and no one sees it as a social faux paux. It's just cute.
