Paige and Virginia's Birthday Party

On Saturday we went to my parents' house to celebrate Paige and Virginia's birthday with our families. My brother and his family flew in from Alaska on Friday, Ben's brother flew in from North Carolina late Friday night and my grandparents drove up from Waynesboro, VA Saturday morning. We got up Saturday morning, had breakfast and headed for the hills, aka my parents' house.

Paige and Virginia don't see their Uncle Todd and Aunt Sandra very often, but it doesn't take long for the girls to warm up to them. Paige loved her Uncle Todd. Here she is with him and Aunt Sandra.
Grandma Cindy got balloons for all of the kids. Paige and Virginia's said, "Birthday Cutie" on the and Keats' looked like a soccer ball. They loved playing with their balloons.Virginia really is a birthday cutie.
The week before Paige and Virginia's birthday my parents went to New York for the weekend for their anniversary. While they were there they got a set of American Girl twin dolls for Paige and Virginia. Here they are seeing their dolls for the first time. Keats is watching closelt.
A friend of mine made birthday shirts and crowns for the girls. Here's Virginia hanging out on the couch wearing her birthday crown. On her lap are her American Girl doll and a hot pink blanket that my mom crocheted for the girls.
Paige wasn't a big fan of wearing her crown, but she let Keats put it on her and left it on long enough for me to snap a couple of pictures.
When the girls started to open their presents Keats busted in and opened a lot of them. The girls didn't mind, but in an attempt to get him to stop opening the girls' presents my mom got his birthday presents out for him. One of the presents he got was a flashlight. Here he's showing Lloyd how his flashlight works.
Gaihllimh came down from Alaska with Todd, Sandra and Keats. He did great on Saturday with all of us around. He wasn't quite sure about Jefferson, though, so he had to sniff him to make sure he was okay.

See, I told you Paige loves her Uncle Todd. Here they are again, this time on the couch and wearing fireman hats.
Keats had fun playing with the girls' birthday gifts. They got a tool box full of tools and a doctor's kit. Keats took a pair of safety glasses from the tool box and the otoscope from the doctor's kit and was having fun with those.

Todd, Sandra and Keats got the girls this bath time adventure kit. Paige was quite interested in it when she opened it. I think she likes it.
The three cousins had so much fun playing together! I wish they lived closer so that we could get these three together more often. Keats is ridiculously full of energy and loves to flip around. I ended up with a lot of pictures of his bottom because he was constantly flipping upside down. Here is he upside down next to Paige (in her personalized shirt).
Great-Grandpa Denick had some fun with the tissue paper from some of the girls' gifts. He decided to use it to give Virginia some "enhancements." If you know my grandpa, you know that it's not at all surprising he would be the one to come up with an idea like this.
Paige also loves her Grandpa Dude and he loves her. I think this picture is just so sweet.
The Spiderman couch was a source of lots of fun for the children. They had fun sitting on it, climbing on it, flipping on it and trying to close each other up in it. Here Keats is closing both girls up in it while Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Dude watch.

Blowing out the candles. The girls got a little help from Mommy, Daddy and Keats.
Virginia was so excited about eating her cake that she couldn't even wait for Pops to get her strapped into her seat.

After we had cake I set up our splashmat outside and we took the children out to play with it. Virginia and Paige weren't quite sure what to think of it at first.
Keats, though, was ready to play. He had a great time jumping on the mat and splashing everyone.
Then my mom got out a water rocket, which Keats really loved. He had fun shooting the girls with it, who loved it, and teaching the girls how to use it.
My sweet Virginia.
And my sweet Paige.
While we were playing outside with the splashmat the guys were inside watching the US soccer team play their World Cup game. We were going to wait until the game was over to go home, but then it went into extra time. We stayed for the first 15 minute period of extra time and then decided to head for home. We drove back and went to Mimi and Pops' house for dinner with them and Uncle Lloyd. After dinner we came home and got the girls ready for bed. We had a great day and I'm so glad we got to celebrate with our families!
