Kendall's Birthday Party

Last Saturday was Kendall's birthday party.  Kendall is the daughter of one of my best friends, Beth.  The party was at Beth's parents' house.  Virginia and Paige weren't quite sure about things when we first arrived.  They wouldn't talk and they wandered over to the living room and just watched for a little bit.  They were especially skeptical of Kendall's daddy, James.
Kendall, on the other hand, was happy to be held by her daddy.
The weather was really nice so Ben and the girls spent a lot of time running around the backyard.  I spent some time out there with them, but couldn't run around since I sprained my ankle just before we left home.  I was carrying a box out of the house, stepped into the foyer onto one of the girls' shoes and twisted my ankle and fell.  It did not feel good, but at least it's just a sprain and not broken.

Virginia and Bear had a great time in the backyard.
So did Paige.
Another fun thing the girls found they could do was walking around on the benches on the deck.  Paige and Virginia had so much fun in the Buckley's backyard.

Kendall "walking" while holding onto Beth's hands.
Paige watching the action in the backyard.
One of Beth and James' friends who was at the party has a daughter that is about a year older than Paige and Virginia.  She jumped in and played with Paige and Virginia and Ben.  At one point she somehow got ahold of Virginia's bear and ran off with it.  Virginia didn't hesitate to run right after her.  Thankfully Bear was returned to Virginia safely.
All of the girls!  Kendall, Perin, Virginia, Paige and Tessie (with Beth and Mollie holding onto the ones on the ends).
Virginia Rose.  Look at how long her hair is getting.
Kendall listening to everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to her.  She wasn't quite sure about it and actually started crying while we were singing.  Ben's convinced it was because he was too close to her, but I think it was all just a bit overwhelming for her.
James saved her from the singing, but she wasn't sure if she wanted her daddy or her grandpa.
Baby Adam.  This is the son of another friend of mine, Jess.  He was born in November, but this was the first time I got to meet the little guy.  Isn't he a cutie?!
Kendall wasn't quite sure about her cupcake at first, but I guess she thought she'd try it since her mommy was holding it for her.  She quickly learned how good cupcakes are.
Once Kendall was put back in her high chair she dove right into the cupcake.  She loved it!

Happy Tessie.  I love this picture of her, she just looks so happy and so much like her daddy.
Virginia and Paige wasn't to play with Kendall's new toys with her.  They were nice enough to stand back and let Kendall play while they just watched.
Kendall trying to whistle.
The birthday party was a lot of fun.  I still can't believe Kendall is already a year old, but it's great to see her doing so well.  She'll be up and running around with Paige and Virginia before we know it.
