Memphis: Part 2 Graceland

Thursday morning our first stop was Graceland.  But before we headed there John and Uncle Lloyd went and picked up our 15 passenger van that we were renting for a couple of days.  The van was great because all of the members of the younger generations were able to ride together while Mimi, Pops, Uncle Bob and Aunt Beth rode together in Pops' car.

Everyone from the van in front of the Graceland sign.
Justin, Ali, John, Elizabeth, Shannon, Lloyd, Caleigh, Mason, Rob, Leigh, Carson, Paige, Tobi, Virginia and Ben.
A panoramic picture of the front of Graceland.
The living room at Graceland, including the 15 (or 16?) foot white sofa.
That sofa wouldn't stay clean for 5 minutes in our house.
Elvis' parents' bedroom.  The only bedroom we got to see because it's on the first floor, which is one of the two floors (along with the basement) that you can tour.
Graceland's dining room.
The kitchen, which apparently hasn't been updated since Elvis was alive.
I loved this sofa in the basement.  It was so big and looked so comfy.
This was Elvis' tv room.  It had 3, probably 19" or so, tvs- not so impressive by today's standards.
The billiard room had walls and ceiling that were completely covered with fabric.  The same fabric that was also used to upholster the couch.
One side of the "Jungle Room."
And the other, more jungly side of the "Jungle Room."
Elvis had a couple of gold and platinum records.
This used to be his racquetball court, but now it holds a bunch of awards and gold and platinum records.
And a few of Elvis' jumpsuits.
This statue is in the yard near the gravesites of Elvis and his family.
The graves of Elvis, his twin brother (who died at birth), his parents and his grandmother.

Ben and the girls in front of a huge guitar back at the shopping part of the Graceland complex.
We had fun exploring Graceland and learning about where Elvis lived.  When we finished there with all of our souvenir shopping it was time to head to Beale Street for some lunch at Dyers Burgers.
