16 months old!

If you look at this blog somewhat regularly, you know that we take and post pictures of the girls on their monthly birthdays. Well, yesterday they turned 16 months old and we attempted to take their normal monthly picture. Let's just say it did not go well. We attempted to put the girls in the recliner a few times and Paige would not cooperate at all. Of course, in between photo sessions she was throwing a MAJOR fit, so we weren't really expecting her to behave for the pictures. Here are some examples of our attempts to get their monthly pictures.

Attempt #1:

Paige wanted nothing to do with getting her picture taken

and Virginia just wanted to chew on her toy.

After this picture was taken Paige proceeded to try to climb onto the end table next to the recliner and Virginia rolled over in the recliner. So we took them down from the recliner for awhile.

After dinner we attempted again to get pictures in the recliner. Still no luck. At this point Paige had decided she was only happy if Mommy was holding her and only sometimes satisfied with that. It was a rough evening in the Rowland house.

Attempt #2:

After that series of pictures were taken Paige really started to melt down. We're pretty sure it was being tired, but we don't really know. She was a wreck. She was crying and screaming and nothing made her happy. I'd pick her up and she'd push away from me, but then when I'd put her down she'd reach for me again. It was not fun.

And then she studied them some more.

I thought maybe Paige was hot, so I took her pants off of her. It didn't help.

After she got her bottle of milk Paige settled down a little.

After they'd had their bedtime bottles both girls were sitting on the couch with me and were finally content. So we decided to take some pictures of them there in hopes we'd at least have some decent pictures of them from their 16 month birthday. It worked!

And then since they did so well with that we thought maybe we'd try them in the recliner again. That was not such a great idea. Paige still didn't want to be there!

As I said before, it was a rough night in the Rowland house. But we got through it and the girls went to bed at 7:15. They were obviously tired, though, because after some initial crying we didn't hear another peep out of them all night. I sure hope Paige is in a better mood tonight!
