Air & Scare and Amani's Birthday Party

Our super busy weekend continued on Saturday when we went to Air &; Scare at the Udvar-Hazy Center and then went to Amani's 5th birthday party!  Thankfully we had some downtime in the morning.  I went for a good 4 mile run and the girls tried on all of their different costumes.

They spent the morning as Spiderman (Virginia) and Superman/girl (Paige).
Spiderman and Superman really love each other!
But being a superhero is exhausting, as is being a superhero's dog.
After the girls, I mean superheroes, got up from their nap on the couch we ate some lunch and then got ready to head to Air & Scare.  They decided they wanted to change costumes so they went to Air & Scare as Minnie Mouse (Virginia) and Snow White (Paige).  Here they are posing under the SR-71.
Minnie Mouse and Snow White in front of the F-4, the kind of plane Pops used to fly.
They had plenty of activities at Air & Scare, plus Star Wars characters and Ghostbusters wandering around for pictures.  I kept asking Ben if he wanted to get his picture taken with any Star Wars characters, but he wasn't willing to wait in line for a picture.  Oh well, I offered. :)

Snow White and Minnie Mouse coloring witches for the witch races, which we didn't do.
We had a great time at Air & Scare and I definitely think we'll be going back next year.  It's so neat having a museum like that so close to where we live.

Saturday evening was Amani's 5th birthday party.  Amani is the son of a friend of mine from high school, Ticia.  We hadn't seen her since Paige and Virginia's 3rd birthday party, so it was great to see her and her family again.  The birthday party was at an arcade and moonbounce place.  Paige and Virginia really enjoyed riding the little 3 horse carousel.  I don't even know how many times they rode that thing.

We wanted them to do something other than ride the carousel, so we convinced Virginia and Paige to play skeeball.  Suffice to say that they're not going to winning skeeball tournaments (do those even exist?) anytime soon.  But they had fun and that's all that mattered.
There were some other ride on things that Paige and Virginia wanted to ride, so we did that.  They were both huge fans of this Spiderman car ride.  Virginia wanted to cuddle with him.
Paige decided cuddling wasn't good enough and climbed right into Spiderman's lap.
Ben also decided to introduce Virginia and Paige to air hockey.  They weren't very impressed.

After we ate dinner this big dog mascot came out to join the party for a few minutes.  With the dog came bubbles, which Paige and Virginia loved!
All of the kids at the party and the dog.  Amani is the one in the chair and I think Virginia and Paige are blocking a couple of kids.

Ticia and Ben!  They claim to be "twins" because they were born on the same day.
On Monday they both turned 33!
We had a great, busy Saturday although it proved to be a bit much for Paige who completed melted down on the way home.  It took a little while to get her calmed down when we got home, but eventually both girls went to sleep and even let us sleep in Sunday morning.  That was a good thing since Sunday proved to be just as busy as Saturday.
