Celebrate South Riding

The first weekend in June Ben was in Chicago for a bachelor party, so Dee came to spend the day with us girls and we went to Celebrate South Riding, this carnival type thing that our neighborhood puts on about this time every year.  The girls had a great time riding the rides, watching the shows and riding the animals.  My mom and I enjoyed watching them. :)  The girls even ran into some friends while we were there, which is always fun!

There was a butterfly tent set up where you could go and put some juice on your finger and the butterflies would climb right up on it.  It was really neat and we all enjoyed having butterflies sit on our fingers.

Paige is super excited about her butterfly.
There were also performances that you could go and watch.  We saw two- the first was a lion and tiger show and the second was a little circus.  The lions and tigers were impressive mainly just because there were real, live tigers and lions in our neighborhood!  We saw them do some tricks and then there was also an opportunity to feed a tiger.  Of course, Dee made sure that Paige and Virginia got to do that.  Don't worry- it was all completely safe and they were never close to a tiger.

Doesn't everyone want a selfie with a goat?
This was at the small petting zoo.  And, yes, that is a camel in the background.
These girls had a heck of a day.  They not only got to go on a bunch of rides, but they also got to feed a tiger, ride ponies and ride a camel!

Celebrate South Riding was a lot of fun and I'm glad we were finally able to make it this year.  We'll definitely be going back in years to come.  Thanks, Dee, for coming with us (and for paying for the animal rides and treats)!  Maybe next year we'll even take Daddy...
