Kings Dominion!

On May 31st my company took all of us to Kings Dominion for the first time in 7 years!  We were all excited to go, but for a bit it looked like we might not be able to.  The Thursday before the trip I got a call from daycare that Virginia was sick and had thrown up.  She threw up one more time before I was able to get there to pick her up and then two more times at home, but thankfully that was it.  I stayed home with her on Friday since she was still weak and not feeling well.  She laid around pretty much all day and didn't eat much, but she got better as the day went on.  I could really tell she was feeling better when she asked when we were going to go get Paige and said she wanted her to come home.  Thankfully she fully recovered and no one else got sick so we were able to go to Kings Dominion and spend a full 10 1/2 hour day in the park!

Paige and Virginia were excited to go on their first roller coasters and try out all of the rides at Kings Dominion.  Ben and i were really hoping they'd like the roller coasters since we both love them.  Unfortunately it didn't work out that way, but we still had a great time riding different rides.  The girls absolutely loved Planet Snoopy!  Ben and I hadn't been to Kings Dominion since 2007 and had never paid much attention to the kids' area before, but it was awesome.  It was definitely built up from last time we were there.  And it was great for Paige and Virginia's age.  We did venture out of Planet Snoopy for some rides, but most of the day was spent there.

Paige and Ben on the Great Pumpkin Coaster.  They both loved it!
After the Great Pumpkin Coaster we went over and rode the Woodstock Express, formerly known as the Scooby Doo Roller Coaster.  Virginia absolutely loved it, but Paige thought it was too fast and scary, so we didn't get her to go on any bigger roller coasters.  That was okay, though.  Next time, though, the goal will be to get her to go on The Grizzly since that's our favorite ride.

This car ride was the first ride the girls went on without us.  We all went on it the first time and when the girls wanted to go on it again we told them they'd have to go alone.  Neither of us really like the round and round and up and down movement of the ride.  They loved it, though, and rode it a couple more times.
Paige absolutely loving the car ride.
Lunch was provided by my company (as were our shirts, but Virginia refused to wear hers) and at lunch there were face painters so Paige and Virginia had to get their faces painted.  I was really impressed with the face painters and the girls loved their make up!
Back to more rides!  We all went on Lucy's Tugboat once together and then the girls went on it a few more times together.  As you can see in this picture, Virginia even got brave enough that she was holding her arms up on the ride.
We rode several rides outside of Planet Snoopy, including the Carousel, the Ferris Wheel, Ricochet (which is a roller coaster-ish ride), and the Avalance Bobsled.  The girls both loved the Avalanche so much that we went on it two times in a row!  The second time Virginia and I ended up a few trains ahead of Paige and Ben so we got to watch them ride from the ground.

Paige and Virginia got to drive their own car and they loved it.  The only problem was that they crashed at the end of the ride!  The people working the ride didn't move the SUV in front of them quickly enough so when they came in theirs ran right into it.  Looking at the "bumpers" on those SUVs, though, it was pretty obvious that that wasn't the first time they'd had a little wreck.
The girls had a better experience driving a sportscar- no crashes that time!
We had a great time at Kings Dominion and we're so lucky that my company paid for us to all go.  Ben and I decided that we may need to start making an annual trek down there, whether or not Buhl takes the company.  It was so much fun!
