Pops' Retirement

Friday morning we got up and got dressed up for Pops' retirement ceremony.  Virginia and Paige wore their pretty dresses and their white shoes that we'd been hiding from them.  They were so excited to look pretty for Pops' retirement.  And they sure did look pretty.
Here they are with me in my new dress.
We had a great time at the retirement ceremony.  Paige and Virginia were very well behaved.  Paige even made a point to clap each time other people were clapping.  Our seats were set up perfectly (thanks to Pops)- Paige and Virginia sat between me and Dee, who came with a bag full of new toys and coloring stuff.  After the ceremony we had lots of pictures taken and Paige and Virginia did well with those, too.  There was a reception where we got some food and then Paige and Virginia got to run around a bit with Keats before getting even more pictures taken.  After we left we went out to lunch with Dee, Dude and Keats at my favorite deli.  Then it was back to our house for a bit.  On the way Paige and Virginia both took a short nap.

When we got home we got some pictures taken (since we couldn't take any at the retirement).  Here's our family all dressed up.  I'm holding Paige and Ben is holding Virginia.
My mom wanted to get a picture of all three grandkids together and this is what we got- all three of them hiding behind the sofa.
But we did finally get pictures of Dee with all three of her grandchildren.
And the three kids together- Paige, Keats, Virginia.
After changing clothes and a short bike ride for the children, we headed to Mimi and Pops' house for a retirement dinner/party for Pops.  Paige, Keats and Virginia had fun playing in Mimi and Pops' basement and even ate a good dinner of Mexican food- and lots of chips and guacamole.
Keats tried giving Virginia a piggy back ride.  He succeeded with a little/lot help from Sandra.
And they wrestled some in the living room.
And Paige got carried around by Uncle Todd.
At the end of the evening Paige and Virginia went home with Dee and Dude for the weekend.  Before they left they made sure to give Pops' a BIG hug!
Ben and I hung out at Mimi and Pops' house for awhile longer.  We had a wonderful time visiting with Mimi and Pops' friends.  And after they left, we sat down and had a nice relaxing visit with Mimi, Pops and Uncle Lloyd (until he fell asleep).  Then we headed home to get some sleep so we would be ready for the wedding we went to on Saturday.

Happy Retirement Pops!  Congratulations on 40 years of federal service!  Paige and Virginia are excited to have you spend Wednesdays with them.
